Blogaversary Giveaway and other stuff

Just a quick post as I have 2 announcements to make:

I have a 1-year Blogaversary coming up at the end of April and I have planned a giveaway. I have ordered 2 FQ bundles via Etsy, as my LQS did not have anything I liked.

So make a note in your diaries for April 29.

Interview mini-series

This was inspired by both Diamonds in the Sky and Maple Leaf which are large quilts.  I have asked 6 fellow bloggers if they wanted to be interviewed about their ‘monster’ quilts – quilts which are 90 x 90 inches & larger. So I have sent my ‘victims’  a short list of 4 ‘questions’ and now wait for their replies.

Cindy, aka Fluffy Sheep Quilting, is having a giveaway to celebrate her 1st year blogaversary. She is giving away 5 fat quarters by Monaluna for birch Fabrics, you just need to go here to help her celebrate! Out of the fabrics shown on her post, my favourite is the woodland print but the one with the scooters (Vespas?) is also cute.

In 2 months it will be my own 1 year blogaversary (April 29th in fact!  £$*!*£!!  I was thinking it was in May!) 😮  Yikes! Where has that time gone?  Well, it’s not for another 7 weeks, so I have plenty of time to think of something giveaway wise.

Also, Fat Quarterly still has spaces at their retreat in London (June 2 & 3), just click here for more info. I cannot wait to meet my quilty blogger friends, though I have already met Jo Bearpaw and Trudi. This will be the first time I will have been with other like-minded (should it be ‘obsessive’ !?!) people. I wish I could go to a class or be part of a group, but that is not possible at the moment 😦 The online community that I have found via blogs and Flickr is okay, but it cannot truely replace physical human interaction.

Unnamed Beauty Giveaway part 2

I have finally got the third prize sorted, thanks to a quick trip to my local quilt shop!

I have got 3 FQs plus a 1/4 portion of a sale fabric (which was approx 1m), so that makes 4 FQs or so.  The rest of the blue floral fabric (aka sale fabric) has been stowed away in my ever growing stash.

The green trees is from the Just Wing It! range by Momo for Moda.  The other two I don’t know who the designers are, but they would look good in a child’s quilt, wouldn’t they?

I have listed everyone’s suggestions and will be pulling the lucky winners next weekend, with the best 1 of the top 3 suggestions being chosen as the name of my quilt! When the quilt gets it’s little lable, the winner’s name will be added too!

Unnamed Beauty giveaway

No! I’m not giving away the quilt that has no name. I am having a giveaway for the 3 best name suggestions for my unnamed quit.

I have sorted out 2 of the 3 prizes. So far I have the following to giveaway:

1. Tula Pink’s Prince Charming charm pack & other TP fat quarters

2. Denyse Schmidt’s Picnics and Fairgrounds charm pack with extra strips from my scrap bag

Next project

I am still working away on my Maple Leaf quilt, which is 2/3 complete. Even now I am thinking about my next project.

About 8 years ago my Mum took me to Scarborough, Yorkshire, to visit The Sewing Centre and as it was near my birthday (and I was not working at the time) she brought some fabric for me! Thank you Mum! The fabric is Natural Impression by Kent Avery in blue & red, sadly now out of print. My plan is to use these fabrics with coordinating plain blue & red, with leafy prints in green to make a summer version of my Autumn Waterfall quilt.

However, I have been kind of following the Hexagon-A-Long activities on Lynne’s blog.  When I started doing patchwork back in the late 1990s, my very first quilt top was hexies in the old fashioned Grandmother’s Fower Garden pattern. Now, seeing how you can piece a hexie from triangles and the like, I am tempted to do a hexie quilt.

Oh! Don’t forget that I am having a giveaway for the best 3 name suggests for my unnamed quilt (here). Hopefully, I will be able to post pictures of the prizes in the next few days.

First Giveaway

A few years my Mum had been one half of a small lacemaking supplies business and when she was brought out by her business partner, she give me a load of perle threads she no longer wanted. I have no need for them and not one for throwing anything like this away, I am willing to pass them on to anyone who wants them.

The threads  come in 2 sets, and 20 or so colours:

1. No 5

2. No 8

All you need to do is leave a comment telling me (broadly) where in the world you live – city/state/county/country – and what colour(s) you would like. In case you don’t have an email address on your blogger profile, leave your email address in your comment or your flickr username so I can contact you.
